Sound Quality : 10 The box simply works. I was trying to talk myself into a NEW ONE, however, this thing is perfectly quiet and clear enough for Y2K (and beyond). The Behringer noise reduction unit is disconnected temporarily, and MAN do I miss it!!! My system IS very quiet, but the Behringer puts a HUSH on the system that one has to HEAR to believe. What used to be taken care of with masking, the Behringer can do with proper set-up. As a previous review stated, this box is the the LAST (or next to the LAST) processor in the chain. I am going to do some experiments soon, to see if my Lexicon MPX-100, is quiet enough to be LAST in the chain. (It's hard for anything to be more "quiet" than this SNR-202.) I doubt that the MPX-100 will win during the residual noise test. This thing is practically silent and transparent when set properly. The manual explains the process very extensive, yet makes only one practical example how to set it (for the main mix). But most users would use it just for that - clearing the final mix. You can use the SNR-202 as two mono channel or stereo processor. It is a dynamic filter (form 800 to 20000 Hz) combined with an expander (gate). There are three knobs and three buttons for each channel: filter in/out (on/off), filter treshold (up to -40 dB), expander in/out (on/off), expander treshold (also up to -40 dB), expander release (up to 4 seconds) and expander ratio (1:2 or 1:6). Then there is also the mono/stereo switch. Sound Quality : 10 I use it at the end of my main insert loop on my mackie. Sound quality is great - it would be quite stupid if the denoiser woild make additional noise. If you are a noise hater, this thing is made for you. It's an older model - Behringer now makes new denoisers with more parameters. The filter is dynamic and program dependent (as the manual says) and sets itself on the right frequency. Just tweak the knobs and find your own settings. If you master your recordings digital this is a must, especially if you use old analogue synths and drum machines, rich with noise. It also removes noise form analogue recordings, as you already guessed (go easy with filter and expander treshold). Reliability : 10 No wall wart, sturdy one rack unit size. By the way, it came in a huge, really huge box. No problems so far. Customer Support : No Opinion Never dealt with them. Overall Rating : 10 This is a great processor for any kind of music. The newer ones might be even better, but I'm totally satisfied with this one. My recordings are now transparent (well, BBE 262 Sonic Mximizer surely helps here) and noise-free. And the price was also great - 200 German Marks (around 120 USD). Go get one.
